Property Management Software Adds Dating Functionality
What if you could find the love of your life on the same platform that houses your tenant portal? One property management software aims to find out.
April 3, 2023
Big name property management software like AppFolio, Yardi, or Buildium all offer a bevy of services. Market your property for you? Check. Virtual tours? Check? Tenant portals? Check. Find you a date? What?
The field of property management software is competitive. To stand out, a new PMS claims to do something no other PMS can – matchmake. Because don’t property managers deserve love too?
“I thought I was doomed to a life of lonely bank reconciliations and unrequited love. Property People changed my life,” said one user. “I’m now happily married to another property manager. Every night we review maintenance requests and reminisce about our first eviction. It’s beautiful.”
New to the software market is PROPERTY PEOPLE. It’s no secret that property managers are busy. Between fielding all their tenant and owner requests, they have little to no time for their own requests. This newcomer is setting itself apart from the crowd by offering all the services property managers have come to expect from top-tier property management software, with the addition of a dating functionality.
Profile questions like “What’s the most inventive way you’ve carried out an eviction?” or “How fast can you create owner reports?” give users an industry-specific understanding of potential mates. It’s an unprecedented way of finding like-minded people who understand the unique challenges and rewards of property management.
Property People is still in beta, but it already has some success stories! San Antonio Property Managers Elsa Smith and Jorge Cabrera met using the software and got engaged last month.
“Jorge pretended to be a tenant coming to look at a recently vacated unit,” recounts Smith. “I came in, ready to run a credit check, and instead found Jorge down on one knee with rose petals scattered all over. It was so romantic. The rose petals did stain the carpet, and Maintenance is currently working on removing those stains, but it was well worth it.”
“We wanted to create a feature that encourages users to take the plunge and find someone who really gets them,” said Property People’s CEO, Jena Miller. “Property management is not for the faint of heart. You can find a fellow foodie who loves Taylor Swift on any dating app. We’re the only platform where you can find a fellow unsung hero of rental property who understands that bank reconciliations can take years off your life.”
This approach to dating is not for everyone. Some property managers remained unconvinced about a property management software’s ability to introduce them to a potential mate.
San Jose property manager Rachel Weiner says, “Stay in your lane. Yardi knows that they’re no yenta. I appreciate that about them. I don’t go car shopping at my hair salon. Also, between you and me, I don’t want to date a property manager. When would we ever have the time to see each other?”
While there’s no guarantee that one can find love through a property management software, Proper can guarantee a property accounting solution that gives property managers peace of mind. Finding love isn’t impossible, and neither is finding qualified property accountants.
